Centennial Celebration

On February 23, 1917, Brea's founding families incorporated a small wildcatting oil town and put the City of Brea on the map. Since then, Brea has grown into a vibrant business, recreation and cultural center boasting housing and services for a diverse community. Now it’s time to celebrate the 100-year journey that created one of Orange County’s premier cities!

Come Out and Cheer on the Parade!
Amp up your energy and make some noise whether you step out in the procession or cheer from the sidelines. Brea's Centennial Parade marches down Birch Street to the Sports Park on Saturday, May 20, at 9;00 a.m. Bring your friends and celebrate!  Parade Route

Over 90 parade entries will travel east across Birch to the Brea Sports Park while igniting memories and inspiring smiles along the way. You need to be there to share excitement with marching units, including high-stepping members of the USC Trojan Marching Band, magnificent horses pulling the Wells Fargo Stagecoach, and the imaginative 501st Legion/Southern California Garrison Star Wars Group. Plus, greet parade marshals: Actress Andrea Barber, “Kimmy Gibbler” from Full House and Fuller House and Brea’s own baseball legends, Randy Jones (San Diego Padres) and Charlie Hough (Texas Rangers.) The procession promises a rich mix of classic cars, musicians, animals, and local personalities. Community groups and schools will also add their hometown flair.

Make History at the Centennial Picnic
Non-stop entertainment and activities will make the Brea Centennial Picnic a historic gathering. On Saturday, May 20, the Brea Sports Park becomes the perfect setting for all of the outdoor fun from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m

Members of the Brea Ministerial Association are coordinating varied food booths that will be featuring popular foods at 1917 prices. Be sure to bring along lots of nickels, dimes and quarters along with your picnic chairs!

Several baseball games, including a re-enactment of the legendary Babe Ruth vs. Walter Johnson exhibition match-up in 1924, will span the afternoon. Throughout the picnic all can enjoy live musical performances from some favorite bands, Surfin’ and Yard Sale, and other acts. Plus, a classic car show, games and a kids’ petting zoo promise to involve all ages in the festivities.
